On a MUCh brighter note from my previous entry from Tuesday,...Wednesday and Thursday were great days to be alive and enjoy the summer weather in the Nashville area. One of my friends and I played golf Wednesday AM, and both of us had exceptionally good rounds, especially my friend. He played is best round ever by 4 shots, and was so excited about having played so well. Thursday has been even better. In late 1968, I met a guy for the 1st time and we served in the Army together for about a year at the induction center (AFEES) in Nashville. Although we did not know it initially, he and I served about a 1/2 mile from each other in Vietnam the previous year. We had not seen each other in over 40 years. I had called him about a year ago to express condolences regarding the death of his wife. A couple of days ago, he called asked for us to have lunch today. So, my wife and I met him about 1/2 way between Knoxville and Nashville, and ate at Cracker Barrel. We talked from noon until 4 PM. I'm sure the wait staff was ready for us to leave. It was so good to see my friend, and relive all of the good (and not so good) times we have had in the past. He is a jewel of a guy.
These 2 days have more than made up for the water heater exploding and for the banking issues on Monday. Everyone have a great rest of the week. God is good !!
