Diario de stekijessica, 24 feb. 12

Grrr...I totally plateaued on Atkins, and really want to lose this last twenty pounds. My dietician is putting me on the "protein sparing diet," which is like Atkins but much more restrictive. It's ten ounces of protein a day, two servings of veggies, minimal fats and that's it.

Total maybe 1000 calories a day.

This is the most restrictive diet I've ever been on. I want to do it because I can sense that even though I've made it this far, I'm on very shaky ground. My self-control is not absolute, I'm still carried by my desires into food. I don't have anything against enjoying eating, but I want to be in total control of how much enters my mouth. I don't want to be a victim of my own desirous whims. If I don't lick this, I'm going to stop here and gain every pound back, I can feel it. This is a battle that must be fought, and must be won.

There are other delights in the world, and I'm fixated on food. Praying, loving on my kids, hanging out with friends, taking care of my home, reaching out to people, working hard, being creative. When I'm fixated on food, these all seem to get drowned out.

So here it goes. Day 3 of this battle. It shouldn't last more than 60 days to lose my last twenty pounds, so I've got 57 to go.
