I didn't sleep well at all last night. One decision and too many thoughts running through my mind. We decided last night that we have some renovations to do. Moving mom up in about a month. 10 hour drive over two days is the plan. As well as inside modifications, we'll need to pour a concrete slab outside and build a ramp. I'm going to be busy.

Thanks, John. Tonight is a lifting night. I'll hit it hard and then likely take a little helper. I don't like them, but there are those times. Kath. Dad is okay. Not really happy about the situation, but with Mom up here sister will have a little more time for him. His issues are different and better served in a larger community.

Sorry to hear about splitting them up but sometimes there just isn't another option. Hope mom will take the travel o.k. Know I am not aware of the situation, but still wishing all turns out well for everyone.

Ha Just txting with My sisters about My dad ,, a different situation he is in a nursing home with Dementia . 1 sister and I are on different coast and the other has no time and she is 5 hours away . I wish things were different . If I had thought this through 35 Years ago before I moved away and started a family maybe things would be different . It does keep me awake at night . I am trying to afford a plane ticket just to go check on him ,, so expensive I watch the flights weekly . Thanksgiving not a cheap time to fly .

Tamarah, we simply can't live our lives for someone else. We can fit them in as best as we can, but that's all that we can do. The weight is really in being their decision makers. Call him often. I feel your pain.

Hang in there friend.Being a care giver/decision maker for mom/dad or grandparents is hard.. I lost my gma that lived with me 8 yrs ago and I never ever stop thinking of her. Do the best you can and remember to make time for yourself.. Tamarah, hang in there too..

I am surprised that your dad is going along with this but things have to be sorted out with the best care possible for aging parents. Hard decision to make for sure. I feel for you and understand the sleepless nights. Guilt plays on my mind all the time as far as my mother living someplace else, but it's what she wants and if she can still drive down to the store (she turns 93 this month) .. then so be it.
