Time for the weekly weigh-in.

I thought this would move along faster.

I do really well during the days. I have my rice cooker here at work, and my little bag of Uncle Ben's white rice, and a few bags of frozen vegetables. They make for a very nice lunch, and with a little creativity involving coffee creamer and the occasional cheese from the cafeteria, it becomes a nice and varied lunch, and I usually get home from work under the 800 calorie mark.

...And then I am at home. With my refrigerator and my pantry.

If it were warmer, if I could get out and go for a walk without needing sled dogs, I think I'd be doing better. But no.

Willpower: Apparently I have none.

One thing that helps me is having a plan for dinner. If I am left to just poke around in the pantry and the fridge, I end up making less than ideal choices. If i know that tonight I will cook the fish and the broccoli, I am more likely to stay out of trouble. Sounds like you have a plan for the daytime, now work on the evenings. You can do it.!

That's actually a really good insight, and I can't believe I haven't thought about it before. I will have to look for things that are easy to prepare so I don't get daunted by that prospect. Today, I'm also going to try something a little more experimental - I'm going to add a little rice to lunch (go for 3/4 cup instead of 1/2) and then eat it with white balsamic and a little salt and the frozen vegetables and nothing else, see if all the extra electrolytes and the extra mass will kill the snacking urge for later. I think if I couple that with a dinner plan... Thanks!

Have you tried to increase your lean protein intake during the day. I find that when I have a good amount of protein during the day, not only do I tend to get lower calorie expenditure but it also doesn't go through me quite so quickly so that when I get home at night I am not starving and heading for the first thing I see. I also agree with Izzy that when I plan out my dinner it makes it so much easier to stick with my plan. Night time is also my problem but for me it's trying to put the tools in place so that I'm not relying on willpower alone bc will power is so often an inconsistent and unpredictable friend. :-)

I think the "swing the balance more towards protein" thing might have merit. I will try it next week (after I've had time to shop).
