What a crazy ride this week has been. Weight wise - I basically went back to my normal eating patterns after getting home last Saturday night. That was good. I physically felt better and the weight was responding. I had clocked in a 10.8 gain over the last two weeks. Some of it was on an unfamilar scale - some of it was not. I was eating off of my normal for those two weeks, for sure and was reaping the 'benefits' in weight gain and general body discomfort. This week I am showing a 7.2 pound loss. That is nothing short of amazing however the unfamilar scale, return to eating habits, etc has to explain such an unprecedented loss. I still have another 4.6 pounds to lose to return to my lowest weight in July. As always, everything is relative!
I also got very sick with fever, body aches, joint pain, dry cough, fatigue, chills...you know flu symptoms. I have been double vaxed but know that doesn't necessarily give me a get out jail free card. I got a Covid test done last Wednesday but the fever was uncontrolled no matter what I was doing and my body was getting exhausted. My kids were heavily involved. They ended up getting me to call (not allowed in the clinic with Covid symptoms) the doctor to ask about fever management. He figured maybe pneumonia and was horrified at how much Ibuprofen I was taking (apparently a toxic amount). Had me go to the hospital for X-rays and blood work immediately. Covid test was not back. They weren't certain if they were dealing with Covid or Bronchitis (X-ray showed this one). By Thursday evening I was definitely known that I was not dealing with Covid, it was definitely Bronchitis. I needed antibiotics to get better (why I wasn't getting better before) and the fevers would come for a few days more but should lessen in their strength. Yesterday I had 2 fever times each lasting around 2 hours. Today I have had the first bout same as yesterday and we will see about this afternoon.
What a crazy ride! Good news is that my kids were available and advocating for me. My daughter was able to drive me to the test and to the hospital as well as stay the night my regimen was shifting. My sister got me groceries and my son, who lives at a distance, was doing online research and coming up with questions.
May next week be uneventful!!

Tylenol every 4 hours and ibuprophen every 6 hours, and it is ok to take them both at one time when their timing hits simultaneously. READ THE LABELS!!! DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED DOSES. They print that stuff on the bottles for a reason.

So sorry you're ill Carol, bronchitis is no fun, but I'm glad it isn't Covid. You have a great family support system, take care of yourself and get well quickly! Well done on the weight loss, though I'm not surprised! 🌞

I'm so glad your family made you call the doc! It's crazy but we tend to forget that we can still get illnesses other than Covid. One of my friends just got out of the hospital with a totally normal case of walking pneumonia. Hope the bronchitis clears up fast!

Sorry you are feeling under the weather🤒. 😷Feel better soon.
After your antibiotic treatment. You may consider putting some probiotics back in your system. I talk my Drs about any holistic after care, and he was pro, probiotic (no pun intended :)
I would ask about specific brands & ingredients. He doesn't endorse. But he tells us if a brand has something we should avoid.
I like kefir, kombucha (brands that don't have alot of sugar) Pickles, sauerkraut, Kimchi, fermented food found in refrigerated sections of supermarkets are all good probiotics.
My lucky friend got her dr. to write a perscription.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I am steadily improving. Kenna - you are right I should have read the bottle more closely. Fortunately no lasting ill effects. It is odd getting sick in the Covid context as, of course, that angle is checked out carefully however those same symptoms can be other illnesses.

AC Bellerose- I am all about good gut health. I make my own kombucha which I love. The commercial brands are just not as good as what I make! My entire family agrees with me on that one. I make a lovely rhubarb (that I harvest and freeze throughout the summer) with cinammon and cloves juice to add to my kombucha brew. I also make a green tea kombucha with fresh ginger. I have been drinking kombucha throughout my illness. I have been also eating sauerkraut almost daily. Thank you for thinking of it though as gut health is really important.

59Carol — Tylenol is one of the best and one of the deadliest drugs on the market. Large one time doses or frequent use of high dosesl can kill you because you will develop liver failure. I have seen countless numbers of people die horrible deaths from it. Ibuprophen has its own lethal issues.

I am generally a Ibuprofen only person. I have seldom noticed Tylenol being effective for me. I was taking too much Ibuprofen and no Tylenol at all. The combination I was given to take by the doctor was highly effective. I am going to have to remember that for future times.
