So I had a training yesterday and didn't have time to get back home for lunch. Unfortunately, there was just a huge supermarket around... and McDonald's. McDo wasn't an option (lol) so I told myself, let's take something simple in the supermarket. It's been a while, actually, because I do my grocery shopping in the same small and cosy store. OH MY SWEET JESUS. It was huge. Everything is packed, with added sugar, salt and corn EVERYWHERE. After a looooooong moment of walking around and reading ingredients, I chose a whole roasted chicken (skin to be removed because they added sugar even there), a pack of sliced cucumber and an organic greek yoghurt (I looooove dairy, just can't get rid of it even if I know it's industrial and it's not good). So my conclusion: if you don't cook yourself, it's hard to eat healthy. Peace, my lovely FS friends.

I guess markets may be better. A lot of supermarkets here have "market" sections.

@dietgirl I’m not a huge fun of eating just loads of fructose for lunch, even if technically fats aka almonds can lower the glycemic index. But globally there is not enough protein so it’s a no go for me. By the way, almond butter is 1) processed 2) expensive 3) not practical 4) just meh for my taste, a calorie waste. Thus my choice.

Everything Keyten said! Maybe once every couple months, hubby and I get dressed up and splurge on date night but cooking at home 99.9% of the time is so rewarding in more ways than I can count

@key I’ve always cooked and I have my own routine and products I use so it’s hard for me to eat out unless I get “prepared”. But I started to put more creativity and desire cooking and I swear it does have that therapy side 😊 I’ve only been going to the gym and to the grocery store (plus my ex parents’ in law to pick up my kid) for the past 3-4 weeks so tomorrow’s restaurant will be a little challenge... I spend my weekends away from the world 🌍 too many people out lol

@kissangelgirl, my bf is coming next Friday, I'm sure he will drag me out at least 2-3 times. So yes for date nights! I feel safe with him so I'm sure it will be fine. I love cooking with him tho, I wish it was more often..

Over time we seek out the healthiest food sources. It's always a bit difficult to be forced into making poorer choices. I find myself not wanting to eat out, because I know that I'm not going to find the same quality food that I get at home. For instance, I'm buying grass-fed meats and pastured eggs. Where do you find that at a restaurant? I really don't want to be eating GMO fed meats.

Just joined Butcher Box, very reasonable grass-fed meats.

I know! I cook 3 meals a day! My son wants to be a chef and I told him when he gets his degree I will finance our restaurant: “Garden of Heeden”.
