Diario de AuntRainey, 27 jul. 12

I've been bouncing around on weight, but 132.2 seems safe. I've dropped below 132 a couple times, so I'll probably be there by next week. Odd how much 1/2 a pound gets in looking toned and fit when closer to the goal.
I was starting to lose a bit too quickly (yes, 1 pound a week is too quickly) so I'm starting 2 moderate cheat days a week to slow it down. 0ne to two pounds a months would be good.
Now, If I could be sure I'd firm up I'd like it all to drop off today of course but at 51, in order to firm up I have to work very hard at it and move slowly.
I used to think it would really suck to be older and have to work harder to lose weight and get toned. I've done a 180 on that. Yes, I have to work a bit harder, and yes it takes a little longer, but that keeps me on track. I used to gain weight quickly because I knew I could take it off quickly. And since I knew it would come off quickly I kept it on longer with the thought I could take it off any time I wanted.
Plus - though physically it's a bit harder at 51, mentally it is much easier. And working out to stay healthy as well as to look good is much more satisfying than just losing weight to look good.
I have multiple reasons to work out now. To lose weight - yes. But also, to keep my bones strong, to be able to keep doing whatever physical activity I want to do, to keep my heart healthy - all the things that come with age. It's ended up being a positive.
I love being 51. I don't think I was truly happy until I was 49. There is just an acceptance and simple happiness about each day that wasn't possible when I was younger. It just seemed to come naturally as I got close to 50. My only real regret is that my mom isn't here to finally see me content. I know she can see me, but I can't see her see me! On the other hand, maybe she's helping - whatever it is, I'm grateful. I am probably healthier now than at any point in my life, largely because I started smoking when I was 11 and quit smoking when I was 48.
I haven't found anything I can't do now that I could do at any point when I was younger (excluding when I was a child and could climb like a money without using my legs - easier at 45 pounds!). I'm reading more and more articles about getting old being more about inactivity than aging, and I'm finding that to be true.
