Okay, so... I was never diagnosed as diabetic or anything, but I got married last summer (July 2010) and haven't been conceiving, so my OB/GYN suggested maybe I had blood sugar problems due to my weight and that was interfering with pregnancy.

So I got a little monitor at Walmart and have been checking it out.

Before Atkins I had:

2 hour post prandial blood glucose: 116.
Fasting blood glucose: 100 and 94. (tested twice)

On the high end of the range (especially the 100 FBG), but within it for the most part, and all my random ones were fine, so I just didn't worry too much about it. I figured I was a bit insulin resistant and needed to focus on losing the weight.

Now I've tested again after dong Atkins a couple weeks:

2 hour post prandial blood glucose: 86.
Fasting blood glucose: 111.

All my random ones have been in the 80's and 90's.

So why the heck has my fasting blood glucose gone up doing Atkins?? And does it correlate with how slow my weight loss has been? Incidentally my weight has gone up 2 lbs to 161 (weighed this am), and it is not corresponding with my TOM or anything. That means I have only lost 1 lbs since Jan 26, my first day of induction, despite eating an average of only 1500 calories/day.

I have charted my foods perfectly. There are a few times where I was more like low 20's for net carbs... but that shouldn't be enough to cause me to gain weight when my total intake is so low, right?? I just don't get what's going on. And am not sure what needs to be done.

Any suggestions?
