I'm 37 and have been married ablmost 19 years. I am currently 171 lbs. My immediate goal is is 135 lbs. This would put my BMI in the middle of the normal range. My ultimate gosl would be 120 and miost likely settling around 130, but I am taking one step at a time. That is most vanity. I 140 is health related. I am already getting early signs of arthitis and want to relieve the extra weight from my joints.
Although when I got married at age 18 I was only 115 pounds I still had a pot belly. I'm told this is genetic and my great-grandma who was skin and bones still had a belly. Yeah genes! I had my first child at age 20 and gained over 60 pounds and I have not been the same since. Although I did get down to 127 after her I then I pregnant with my 2nd child.(They are 18 months apart.) I did much better with her and only gained 35 lbs and lost most of that.
Over the years I've been yoyoing. As I got older I gained. I also had several misscarriages in which I gained 10 pounds immediately into the pregnancy, but did not loose the weight when I lost the baby. I tried various diets with various results. I discovered that I have PCOS which can be a problem for weight but I try not to focus on that or use it as a crutch. Although NOW my BMI is overweight, when I was diagnosed my dr. was hesitant to test for it because I was not the sterotypical "obese PCOS person."
I did have 2 more children. I was already overweight when I got pregnant with them. I didnt gain the weight I did with my first 2. I am very close to my pre-pregnancy weight of my 4th child, but it is still over weight. My youngest just turned 1 in march, and my 3rd was 3 in February.
