Diario de Earthlady, 08 feb. 12

The scale is all over the place this week - 58.7 - 57.8 - 58.4 - 59.1.... I don't know what to think! Best to just carry on and not think about it, probably, just settling down after the holiday, but the difference between the lowest and highest numbers this week is 1.3k or nearly 3lbs!

Hoping for a low number on Saturday's weekly weigh in but I'll need to do some exercise! Once again I'm not planning to go to the gym today - after school meeting cuts into gym time. It's very cold and windy but I've come to school prepared with enough warm clothes to walk home (just over two miles, I think) so that will be better than nothing.

In the exercise diary I write in 'desk work' but in fact teaching is not desk work at all, it's more like acting! I'm on my feet most of the day and have a lot of stairs to run up and down, too, so I guess my calorie deficit each day is higher than the exercise diary implies.

There are mountains just across the bay from us, covered in snow this morning, and snow is expected here in the next day or so.

I suspect you're right, that you're readjusting after your holiday...other suggestion--TOM coming soon? Extra salt in your diet? I see sunflower seeds and lentil soup. (I don't usually look at your diet entries, but noticed that today). If more salt, then maybe holding a little extra water. If so, then drink more water to make your body turn it loose...and, as you said, just carry on and try not to worry about it. Saturday will be here, and then we'll see the "official" weight. :) On that note, do you tend to weigh yourself every day in spite of having an official day to weigh in? I admit it, I do...especially if I've lost a pound...I keep checking to see if it's still there (or gone, actually). I've been told we shouldn't do that, but, there ya go..."guilty as charged". The danger, of course, is getting discouraged if we gain, or deciding to "celebrate" if we've lost...I confess I always have a little pep talk with myself either way, so maybe it's not TOO awfully terrible. :) Anyway, hang in there...it is what it is.

Well, you're spot on, Baxie! Forgot about ToM and just checked my calendar - due in two days! My sunflower seeds are just roasted but unsalted - I sprinkle a few on my breakfast, and I made the lentil soup myself. I do drink lots of water anyway. Yes, I am guilty of weighing myself daily, but I only "count" the Saturday weigh-in. I think that helps me not to obsess too much about the daily weigh-ins but I keep them as part of my "conscience" package, I think.

Sounds like a pretty view! I try to underestimate my calorie deficits to hopefully trick myself. hahaha. And 3 pounds I've heard is a normal fluctuation range. Frustrating as it may be, sounds like you have the right idea-recording weight weekly. Keep up the good work! :)
