Last night I finally got my copy of Dr. Jason Fung's new book: The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting. A must read for newbies in fasting. It is excellent!
Has eating plans, recipes, background/history of fasting, explains different types of fasting, defines what a fast truly is and what it isn't, sites some medical study information that shows benefits of fasting, and some success stories.
One thing he repeats about 10 times is not to do extended fasting without talking to your doctor and if you feel sick or nauseous at any time while fasting, then stop b/c that is NOT a typical side-effect.
I think it is inspiring and excites me to think that I will be able to reverse my type II diabetes and get rid of this medication.
