After a week of my weight bouncing all over the place for a couple of weeks, I am finally making forward progress again. I had to increase my calorie intake to do it....who would have thought you would have to tell me to eat???

Anyway, after adjusting my exercise and calorie intake, I am finally seeing some changes. I had actually gained a couple of pounds due to my body thinking it was starving on 1400 calories. For a smart girl, I can do stupid pretty well.

Monday, I am going in for bloodwork to check my thyroid levels. They typically run borderline low--so I am hoping that there might be something that they can do to boost these just enough to jump start my metabolism a little bit. With all of the exercise I am doing, I just want to make sure that everything is working as effectively as possible. I really do not want to be putting this much time into planning and exercise to see the scale stagnate due to something totally beyond my control.

Right now, I am so happy that I am back down on the scale, and am really praying it continues.

That's a really interesting observation about the calorie level. How many minutes of daily exercise do you average? I've had a week of "I do not feel like it." And finally went out for a run today. Good luck Monday.

I talked to a dietician, and she informed me I was about 400-500 calories below what I should be eating. I am working out between an hour and an hour and a half of cardio Monday-Friday. I do strength training 3 days a week. Cardio consists of Elliptical, Bike, Swimming, or walking. I usually alternate it up a bit. When I stopped losing, I paniced and dropped calories and upped my cardio. My body thought that I was starving and started holding onto every calorie to maintain....it slows down your metabolism is what the trainer at the gym said. I have started using www.myfitnesspal.com to log food and exercise. It adjusts your carbs, protein, fat , calorie intake based on your workout. Hopefully this will prevent me from doing anything stupid from here on out.

I tried my fitnesspal but found it more difficult to log food on that website. plus I thought the calorie burns were overestimating the value of the workouts. I'm interested to see how this works for you. are you switching to the other website completely?

I am going to bounce back and forth. I am logging my food there, because it adjusts for exercise. I am using the calorie burn on the machines, and not using their values. If it is something where I don't know--like walking, I am using what the treadmill at the gym says I burn per mile, because that is usually a totally flat surface, and most trails are not usually totally flat. I really like the challenges here. If you want to friend me there too, my id there is jennim1974.
