Good for you! I know it's rough, but I'm glad you are focusing on yourself... personal growth is important!  

That's a hard thing to do for sure. *hugs* sounds like it was for the best though 

Everyone should experience life one-on-one at some point. I learned how to live a solitary existence from the time I was twenty five until I was almost thirty five, there are some things you just have to learn by yourself, experience as a solitary practitioner, as it were so that you know you're self-sustaining. In a lot of ways I preferred life by myself, but I'm happy with the way things are now, too. Get out there and really get to know yourself, there's a lot to be learned within the solitary confines of one's own castle.  

After 26 yrs married to the same man , divorced him and it took me 5 yrs of finding who I was in solitary "Refinement" so to speak to see what I was really made of. I been remarried 8 yrs now I now after going through solitude KNOW who I am . Its a journey. 

Good for you Notelaine, we are not on this Earth to settle, those days are long gone! I hope you get some well deserved "me time" and just have some fun! Life is too short to be unhappy! 

I know you may not like me. Hell I cant stand me at times. I am an insufferable asshole. And I have anger issues and no verbal filter it seems. I admit this freely. And I make no apologies for it. But I would like to say I personally agree with your decision. Its not like you guys were married and had small children. You have your entire life ahead of you. Don't go stupid extreme. Just enjoy life while you have it. If some day you decide to settle down that's awesome. And No settling down does not mean you need to settle. I, having been single now for 11 years have enjoyed life more than I ever did while I was in a relationship. The only thing I miss is my kids. The rest? Pshhh. Life is short. Enjoy it while you have it. 

Notelaine, good on you! Having been in a destructive relationship, I completely support your decision: you will feel EVER so much better for it, after the initial "buyer's remorse" wears off, believe you me. Here's to your upcoming Wonderful experiences!  

Even when we know it's the "right" decision it can be hard. My daughter just broke up with her BF of 8 years. They started going out in high school. They bought a house together 4 weeks ago. NOW she decides he's not the one for her. Oh boy, life can be a challenge.....Good Luck to YOU! 

Show that ice cream who's the boss!! lol...seriously, congrats on the bold move, it took a lot of strength and courage but it's the first step towards a happier you.

LOL I hear you about the cats - mine would do that! It's painful to give up even a dead relationship, but until you do you will not find a better one. (Or, if you did beforehand you would feel guilty about it right at the start!) You did the brave thing. Enjoy your "pint."  

LOL - not sure whether my cats would eat me...it is possible! Happy you followed your heart, wise woman. 

Good for you be strong it is hard I know I too just broke up with my boyfriend of a relationship of 17 years as of May 11th on my birthday we don't need a man holding us down it is for the best take care of yourself.  

I'm sorry for the difficult time you are both going through, and I'm sure you didn't want to hurt him, even if it was ultimately for the best for you both. You are a strong and smart woman. I hope you will both find great happiness in other directions in the future. You deserve it! Hugs.

cats wont eat you, they are too picky ( i have three little jerks , i mean angels). Good for you on the clean break. you wont die alone.. I promise.. Hang in there... we are all here for you...Now time to become the best version of you that you can be !  

Never heard of Halo Top ice cream. Is is really like "reg" ice cream or does it have a "funny" taste? I've missed ice cream.... 

Thanks for all the support everyone! PokeyJack, "buyers remorse" really hits the nail on the head for how I was feeling last night. Just overwhelming guilt and regret that I did the wrong thing and hurt a great guy in the process. Now that I've had time to sleep on it, I really just feel more relieved. The longer I would have stayed, the worse it would have become.  

And I'm 100% positive my cats would eat me. I can't leave any food out! The other week I had this gorgeous filet mignon coming to room temp on my counter before grilling it, and left briefly to take the trash out. I came back in and the two demons were ripping it apart like hyenas.  

Rckc, I'll make a separate post about the ice cream. I feel like I'm advertising for that company with how many people I've been telling about it!
