Read it and it is interesting...my sons both have tats and stretched ears, and industrial piercings, and septum piercings. It's a lot different these days than it was when I was young, that's for sure! Back then, only the "bad" girls and guys had tats. Or military....

L, I read it. My problem with tattoos is that I'm an artist and perfectionist. I wouldn't trust another person to put something permanent on my body. My daughter just had two of her babies names put one on each arm. They go from elbow to wrist down her inner arms. The lettering is pretty, but the artist slipped on the outline of an "I". If I were wearing it, I would never be able to reconcile that permanent botch. It's not particularly noticeable unless you really study the tats, but I would know. The only person I might trust to put something on me is Kat from LA Ink. I can't even imagine what kind of prices she can charge now. And, of course, now I'm 67. Six years ago my skin went totally slack. Any tattoos I had would now look like they are melting. However, I was one of the people who invented "hippie" and I have a very open mind about what people wear and how they decorate. I say, "Go for it!" Love you!!!

Jo, see I am not an artist, but I am a perfectionist and I am HUGELY anal when it comes to putting something on my body. The tattoos with my nieces handwriting are very hard to look at sometimes because the lines are imperfect - the artist that did them had a hard time not straightening them out lol. A mistake on the outline would bug the complete hell out of me and I would request they make the outline bigger so I couldn't see the mistake. I am VERY particular about the artist, and if I do not feel a good vibe I will not go to them. I also only go to one shop - this shop is known for being tattoo snobs, they will turn tattoos away if they do not feel they can do it to the best of their ability, or if they do not match the personality of the person. I also base my choice of artist/shop on the amount of awards they have recieved from various tattoo conventions, because if they can win awards they must be decent. Its a process that makes some people cringe, because it took me a long time to find a shop full of artists that I can trust 100% lol
