BEST TIP ON FATSECRET!
Recently someone here posted about how he logs his meals on fatsecret before even preparing them, I thought I'd give it a try ..Game Changer!
Logging my meals before eating or even preparing them helps me with portion control, calorie count, and especially macros, I get to make modifications while logging and then cook or go grocery shopping according to the food journal.
I totally recommend it, Give it a try and tell me how it goes!
cheers!

Yep, it helps a LOT. Even when I don't do that though, just posting something before I eat it can be helpful. Looking at how it's going to impact the day may make me go for a smaller serving or pass it up entirely. When I post it after the fact, I can't un-eat it!

A guy named Kevin Kruse wrote a book on successful people (haven't read the book, just a few quotes), and there was something he said that appealed to me greatly. He said that "your future self can't be trusted. We buy veggies today because we think we'll eat salad for a week, then we throw out bags of green mush in the future. Successful people figure out what they can do NOW to make certain their future selves will do the right thing. Anticipate how you will self-sabotage in the future, and come up with a solution today to defeat your future self". The idea of defeating my "future self", "inner brat", "alter ego", whatever you want to call it cracked me up and appealed to my competitive nature - even though I'll be competing with MYSELF. Snort! I probably need a shrink, but it still amuses me, and this kind of thing - writing down what you're eating BEFORE you eat it - is a perfect example of that process :-)

I'll even test run some things from online restaurant menus to see what to order and what to avoid when eating out. Some things at my favourite restaurant I will never order again.

YES! I always log first so I stay on my nutrition plan - and I also look at restaurant menus ahead of time, too.

Absolutely! I've been known to log a week in advance at times. I'm fundamentally lazy so if I do that then have to change it, I generally can't be bothered so eat what I'd planned. I see it a bit like household budgetting - I plan our meals at least a week in advance so I know what to buy and we don't give in and order in takeaway because we can't think what to have. Thanks for calling it out to other people - maybe we should have done that too!
