Diario de WM0000, 25 feb. 24

There are many things in life I don't understand, which is why I lean on the advice of experts like my endocrinologist.

I thought my weight had stabilized since there haven't been many fluctuations in the past few months. I have added an extra 1000 calories per day to my eating routine and ended up dropping another 4 pounds over the past 10 days. The extra calories come from consuming pistachios. That's the only thing that has changed. I have been lifting heavier weights but I haven't increased my reps. I haven't even started spring cardio yet.

I will take any gains, or in this case losses, at this point.

1000 calories per day from pistachios? Do you have a pistachio tree? I would love to plant some, but they don't grow here.

@TheUnhealthyDaddy - I wished because I go through three to four 2-pound bags each week. I'm in eastern Texas, and my 8b growing zone would not support the growth of pistachio trees. However, I do have four 80+ years old pecan trees on my property. That's a source of free nuts for me, my family, and friends. If I were in southwestern Texas, I would have a few trees on my property. Now, my other fetish is cheese. I need to learn the art of cheese-making. There are lots of places I can get raw milk from cows, goats, and sheep in my area.

@AncientHippie - Don't make me blush! I would be a flop at modeling. I'm just trying not to return to my maximum weight of 460+ pounds. I stopped weighing at a point because the scale couldn't take any more abuse. I had to figure out this is a lifelong struggle. Stick to the plan, and things will happen.

Hola, WM000, I, too, am an East Texan. I live the Lufkin/Nacogdoches Pineyplex, and I'm also zero carbs/sugar, it's awesome that you're here!

Awesome! I live about 20 miles north of Lufkin in Cherokee County on U.S. 69. We'll definitely have to hit the gym together one of these days!

So WM0000 i just showed hubs your pic and said does this man look like he has EVER had a weight problem. He studied your pic and said, “nope.” Now my hubs was 300 pounds at 5’10-1/2” when he was 22 years old. He lost 100 pounds that year and became addicted in every sense of the word to eating properly, lifting weights and running. That was 24 years ago. You would never know he had a struggle but the year he got sober he gained those 100 pounds after. I am proud of him. These days he will casually decide to go for a 9-12 mile run after an intense H.I.I.T. Workout like the athlete he is. I say this so you understand that he knows what a formerly obese person looks like. His daddy was between 450-500+ pounds in every bit of the years i knew him as well tho the rest of his family is mostly h/w appropriate. Addiction to food. I just want to put into context how much you no longer resemble your former life. You must feel as beautiful on the inside as you look on the outside. The day i met hubs he was a new client. I had to verify his identity (17 years ago) and took one look at his drivers license with his 300 pound face and looked at the 28 year old very handsome 185 pound man in front of me with the huge chest and biceps and said to him (pointing at his face), “this is a much better look for you.” 🥰. I say the same to you my friend. This is a much better look for you. I love seeing your posts.

You look fantastic. What is it that I should be learning about pistachios?

@Snowwhite100 - The key was not the pistachios. I wasn't getting enough calories and my body began to store fat (go into starvation mode). I bumped up my caloric intake from around 2000 per day to almost 3000 calories. The extra calories allow a more efficient workout.

You look amazing. I hope I can get fit enough to build some muscle at my age. I need a trainer who specializes in older women. I’d like to be a trainer who specializes in older women but I’m a long way from that.

@philrmcknight - Most people back away when I tell them my gym time is between 3:45 am - 5:00 am. I know my schedule will be clear during this time period.

@TRachael - I will be 59 in June. I'm determined that I will not enter my 60s unhealthy. Other illnesses may develop but they will not be weight related.

lol I understand! It would be tough for me to make a pre-dawn stop, but I used to do just that back in college- 2-a-day's one from 5am-6:30am, and again from Noon-2pm. Good times. Married and raising a pre-teen make it tough to squeeze any time at the gym in at all. I just joined Planet Fitness, but have managed to hit the gym twice in the last five days, so I'm not doing too shabby for someone that's been out of the gym for fifteen years!
