😁 I make apple pie once each year; and only for Christmas. I think last year I used a Joy Of Cooking recipe for the crust. So now I can compare that recipe to this year's, from Ina Garten, and see which one works well for me. Wish me luck, please!

What I remember from my grandmother is cold butter and fold 17 times. Don’t overwork it. She died when I was 9.

Growing up my mom and grandmother always made their pie crusts. I think I was 35+ when I realized you could actually buy Pillsbury pie crusts rolled up in the store. Enjoy !

Kat, I wondered about overworking the dough! Thank you! I learned to cook from cookbooks and so sometimes I forget to read the general tips. But, in part, because I was the very first grandchild on my father's side, I had a lot of time with her. My grandma only recently moved on to a better place. She was one of the most important people in my world. Sending 💙 to your grandma.

honeebuns, ha! My youngest loves the Pilsbury crescent rolls and will ask for them every single time I make pasta for dinner.

As a little girl I remember watching my mom dozens of times making perfect pie crusts using Crisco. I wished she would have let me try to make them because the one time I tried it was a dismal failure. Way to tough, probably over working the dough.

Fritzy 22, I've struggled with pie dough as well. It has become easier over time. One issue is that I don't often practice. Yet, this too is by design; because the more pies I make, the more pie I eat. Soooo there you go... I realized that my first attempt at pie crust was based on an ATK recipe, which was very good.
