I have been hitting this diet pretty hard, and while I'm slowly and steadily losing weight, I'm also experiencing a lot of weakness, especially in my legs. has anyone else had this happen?

You might not be eating enough protein or in too much of a calorie deficit. You should try and lose only 1 to 2 percent of your body weight a week. So at your weight 1 to 1.5 lbs a week is more than enough. Remember slow weight loss tends to stay off. Good luck.. 👍🏻😊

Thanks Kenny. I'll add some protein and see if it's better.

Adding activity to your daily routine may help to energize you. Baby steps... Small additions. I also advocate for enough calories to fuel your body. Lower calorie density food = more food to stave off hunger. You will find the balance.

I agree with Kenny. You may need more nutrients. Make sure even though you are dieting that you are still getting enough calories and proper nutrition. Protein, fat and carbs are needed. If you cut out to much fat you will feel weak. Same with protein.

I would suggest to check your electrolytes.

You're eating under 1000 calories a day, which the diet calendar says is around 1/2 of what you should be consuming. Your macros are high on carb for this kind of starvation diet, and your protein's low. Maybe aim for 75g protein a day, but check it out online. My suggestion is to change your macros to 75% fat, 5% carb and 20% protein, and go up to 1200 cals a day at least. Unless you're four foot tall in which case ignore everything I say. Weakness in the legs I think is something else, not eating doesn't make your body incapable of finding the next meal, if it did, none of us would be here. But certainly could be dehydration, or some other underlying problem being exposed. I have a friend who lost a lot of weight and developed severe back problems; the fat had been protecting a damaged back for decades. Don't add in activity- you're not eating enough to sustain it and certainly not enough protein to grow any muscle. So just sleep and rest, drink lots of water, find an energy balance that can cope with your very low calorie diet.

Here’s a thought, when i began physical therapy after surgery some of my excercise were in a seated position in a chair or on the ground on my back. These actually do produce strength if consistent. You can look up both chair excercises and others both on line and on YouTube. Simple things like lifting one foot up as high as you can and then the other. Called marches. Help strengthen the legs. Muscles do need protein to grow also. Just my opinion.

Maybe consult a nutritionist but by the other comments, I’d definitely increase your calories to at least 1600 or more. It takes 1500 just for basic body functions. Increase protein and good quality fats too.

Several years ago I went to m the doctor when I started having weakness in my thighs - I couldn't get up from the floor unless I had something to hold onto. Blood tests showed I had hyperthyroidism and muscle weakness was a symptom. Recently I've experienced weakness that I think was because of being inactive for much of the first year of Covid.

You could be too low on calories & especially protein. If you're not inclined to discuss it with your doctor or to see a nutritionist, then at least google the minimum daily requirements for a woman of your size & age. When I did so I upped my protein intake. It has made a big difference or me. Best of luck on your weight journey!

Thanks everyone, these are all so helpful. I will definitely talk to my doctor in June. My granddaughter is getting married soon and I really want to look nice, but my health is important too. I will add more protein and fats and cut back on the carbs. Really appreciate all the helpful comments.
