Have you tried taking measurements? In my opinion is a much better way to track progress.

Hi Go-Ya, i don't really do measurements as i just use my clothes as a general guide :)

That is a great way to measure ;)

Dont get bummed about the scale. I have learned that if the scale hasnt moved, your tape measure will...or you may need to drink more water. hydration plays a big part in weighloss. dehydration causes water retention.

Also, muscle weighs more than fat so you may have gained some muscle mass 😊

Sorry Jessica Carpenter but muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of fat weighs a pound, a pound of muscle weighs a pound. Just like a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of steel. No trying to be difficult. We shouldn't mislead.. Take Care all!

It's a density issue though. Fat takes up a lot more space than muscle. You would need a lot more feathers (in volume) vs the size of steel to equal that relative pound. So the scale can show the same digits and not give the true assessment of fat (feathers) vs lean muscle (steel). And that would def impact the way you look soft vs firm and the overall health of your body.

LuC2. Correct! Same as feathers take up more space than steel. Muscle is more dense than fat. That is why I am not a fan of the scale. Use a tape measure to get a true gauge of progress.

Yes you are right and I should have stated differently. Fat takes up more mass than muscle. 10lbs of fat takes up a lot more space than ten pounds of muscle. Sorry.

Jessica Carpenter, no problem I have heard a lot of people say that. Just don't want anyone believing it...:)

Thanks for all your comments... :) I'm staying well hydrated - looking at my weight history I do see a trend that around 14 days before my TOM I tend to have a weight spike - so this is probably it. My stomach area is a bit more bloated than normal as is other parts of my body (like my feet - they always swell). So I'm being extra careful with salt right now, keeping my meals "clean" and just gotta keep going. I just hate seeing my numbers go up!
