Hi everyone. I was going to write an explanation since so many of you posted concerns and questions. TW - weights and foods/ED behaviors discussed.

I grew up in a family that prided itself on athletics. My father was a professional athlete for many years before I became a professional/elite athlete as well.

While I was in the ages of 7-13ish he was at the peak of his athletic career and had questionable eating habits that he, unfortunately, forced me to follow through with as well. We had no sweets or chocolates, carbs were limited to an extreme level and undereating was praised.
When I finally went elite in my sport of figure skating, he was not very invested or knowledgeable about coaching and possible downsides. It was seen as a positive to be overworked and underfed if it produced the results needed.

When I went elite I was not in the US. I have dual citizenship, one parent is from my country of competition but I live, study and have citizenship in the US so pardon my grammatical errors, please.

Where I trained it was seen as an even bigger deal to be an athlete. It pays well and there is a lot of competition so diets and weigh-ins were common. Practice days were easily 6+ hours of training and it was recommended to live off of protein shakes, salads, and other low-calorie foods. I weighted less than 100lbs for most of my athletic career and even though I weighted less my official bio said I weighed about 45kg or 99lbs.

When I went professional and elite before COVID struck, I was already experiencing the side effects of being an athlete of that caliber for so long. Back issues, broken feet that I had been told to continue to train on, and multiple head injuries. When my season ended and COVID really hit, I kept training in the US but started getting very sick. I very gained weight slowly as my training stopped but I reached a high weight of 125lbs during COVID.

For almost a year and a half, I was questionably diagnosed but to put it simply my time spent as an athlete exacerbated a genetic condition and also meant my GI doesn't work well anymore. We realized there was a massive problem when I dropped 20+ pounds in less than two months and gaining it back and maintaining has been horrible.

I never once decided to have an eating disorder or decided to follow disordered eating behaviors. I do not recommend them and I am a total foodie when my stomach allows it now.

I am currently in the process of being evaluated for a surgically placed feeding tube. I have been in this process for almost a year and it will probably take a while.

Please do not pay too much attention to my weigh-ins here on FS as I would not say I am a good example of healthy eating/weight loss. I just really enjoy posting pictures of some of the food I take the time to make and it is a good way for me to look back on some of the foods I have enjoyed later.

Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend!

I knew about gastroparesis, its Greek so i understand what it means. I googled cEDS,POTS,mTBIs. Fortunately it is the classic. Prof.skating with cEDS & POTS!!!??? mTBIs because of the scating i guess. The kind of trauma a cEDS patient should never ever had! Oh, girl, you have an exceptionally strong will!
