EIGHT DAYS UNTIL SPRING

Yeah Saturday is here!!!

Looks like a pretty decent day ahead weatherwise. DH and I are heading out to our local trails this morning to take a grand walk. Still a bit early in the season to load up our bikes, little too cold for me to ride. Don't know how many miles we will power walk but will bring my IPod and track it on RunKeeper. We are doing a 5k for Foodshare on 5/1 so we need to get ready for that.

Meals are all planned for today. I roasted some fresh beets yesterday so we will have those, mixed greens salad and grilled swordfish with a little homemade tartar sauce from greek yogurt, lemon zest/juice and alot of herbs.

Time for my morning isometrics, some breakfast and of course another cup 'o joe. After our walk I think I will round out the day with a healthy dose of desperately needed housecleaning!

Happy Day Everyone!

Enjoy your power walk. I wish I liked fish but its one of those things that just doesn't appeal to me. I have had too many that are just not fresh enough for me. If it taste like fish its not fresh. I do get the cod loins at Sam's and they are good..have a great Sat....Bren

Bren-I know what you mean about the fish, it MUST be fresh. I have a little community fish market and he travels to Boston about 4 times a week and buys it fresh off the boat. This is the only place I buy it, definately no mega-mart fish for me! Cod loins are great, very versatile and they take on all flavors nicely. Have you ever tried tilipia? Usually a good fish for those who are not huge fish lovers. Very mild and pan saute's up nicely.

Babs, my sister had some once but I was afraid to try it. Just been burned fish to many times. But next time I will try it. They like salmon as well and I can't even stand the smell. Turns me off quick..Thanks for the info though. I will see if Sam's has some in the frozen section...I will try any thing at least once.

Wow! Dinner sounds awesome... Wish I was at your house! And I haven't mentioned before, but it's so awesome that you're doing the 5K... can't wait to hear how the training goes, and how the actual race is!

Thanks Brandy, we are looking forward to the event. My employer is one of the sponsors so should be really fun to get out with all my cohorts and their spouses for a fun activity.

I love hiking! To me, it's the best form of exercise ever. Good cardio work, good overall toning, good ab work (if you have rocky trails like we do with lots of maneuvering around obstacles, and great for the legs and butt. I'd hike three times a week if I could. Already getting too hot for me to want to hike - 87 yesterday!

Sword fish is delightful especially if its baked with roasted tomato, garlic and baked sweet potato!

So, the power walk this morning was absolutely wonderful. Cold, only about 38* and windy but very invigorating, only did 1/2 a mile in each direction since we were freezing, but it was a good start for our 5k prep. Didn't get in any cleaning but will probably do tomorrow with the usual laundry detail as well. The swordfish was wonderful for dinner along with the salad w/roasted beets. nom-nom! I am getting very sad watching all this coverage of the japan earthquake. I have a friend from So Cal who has been living in Tokyo for about 10 yrs, I forgot he and his family are still there. He teaches English in an American school. He said he is far enough away but they surely felt it. Praying for everyone there who is struggling and for those who have been lost.
