At 6’1” and 420 lbs I am very surprised they’re putting you on a 1200 calorie meal plan. I owned a nutrition center and would only put women close to their ideal weight or small frames at 1200. Any moving you can do to boost your metabolism would be good. Even lifting your feet while watching tv or doing bicep curls with cans of food. Keep moving. Good job getting protein in. It can be difficult with that few calories. Good luck figuring it all out!

I have pulmonary hypertension due to massive bilateral pulmonary embolism in 2016, went to ucsd sulpizio cardiovascular in sandiego ca, and had the p.t.e surgery in late 16, which was a brutal 14 hr surgery for me, got bad case covid last year,

Metabolism is shot according to endocrinologist, its 20 % whst it should be. bmr is supposed to be 30 some odd hundred cal per day but at 1800 cal, with 20 % or less total fat intake weight doesnt come off like it should,

My best advice is to move to the best of your ability. Walking is always a good place to start. If you have pulmonary hypertension I would suggest an evaluation by a cardiologist before you start an exercise program. You might also request either a physical therapy evaluation or a cardiac/pulmonary rehab evaluation to make sure both your heart and lungs are up to the challenge. Endocrinologist can also set you up with a dietician to help you develop a way of eating that meets your condition and nutritional needs. Keep posting. I would like to follow your progress

Chrisnindy— often people with pulmonary hypertension (PH) deal with weight loss because they often have high heart rates that put them in that fat burn zone. Conversely they may have huge fluid shifts and fluid retention and weight gain for which they take lasix, aldactone, hydrochlorothiazide or one of the other diuretics (water pills). that is why I asked about a cardiac or pulmonary evaluation. If yo have high blood pressure, and a rapid heart rate you just need to keep your docs in the loop.. I’m aauming they have done the blood tests for adrenal fatigue.

Also Chris— be cautious following the advice people might give you related to your weight loss efforts. You have a serious, complicated medical problem and not all suggestions might be right for you. Our highest and best use here on FS is to support your efforts and be your cheering section.

Kenna, yes, was on torsemide 3 pills of 20 mg each tabs at a time daily, 3 pills of potassium meq 20 each also, bystolic 5 daily. i still take the diuretic as needed when legs swell, my blood pressure stays 120's over upper 60 to lower 70's, lungs are at 40 to 50 % via pulmonary function and other pulmonary tests

Chris is your resting Heart rate high or does it vary appropriately with activity.? Sounds like your BP is under control. Do you use oxygen?

Resting heart rate and o2 is " normal " when i do a 6 min walk study, (do them yearly,) rate goes up more than they like. o2 drops to upper 80 's, im 5 yrs post op p.t.e surgery as of oct, this year, surgery was in sandiego ca, where they created / came up with this procedure, my last 6 min walk was measured in a rate of 2.5 mph avg

That is a good pace Chris. It sounds like you are on top of it and doing as instructed. Good job.

One last thing CHRISNINDY— are you actually suppose to take the diuretic as needed as opposed to routinely?. Just a reminder, by the time you see swelling in your legs you could be carrying up to 5 lb. of fluid. Not good for heart or lung. That’s it—- done bugging you.

Keep bugging, not offended at all, the 2.5 pace is 1300 feet measured using a distance wheel at appt which is done at the hospital with the heart and lung dr, that refered me to ucsd in sandiego,, then i usually go to crap in a hurry, and peter out,

The diuretics are taking as needed because the issues arent resolved fully but their in what is called controlled state, i keep total sodium under 1400 daily which i dont miss the salt, use herbs and other non sodium seasoning, but monitor everything thats a commercial seasoning
