This has been an emotional weekend for our family. There was a huge fire last night and my cousin's family owned printing business of over 35 years was destroyed in the blaze. It was located in a 300 year old building in the downtown area of a town up in MA where they were a pillar in the community. A beautiful store where they designed and printed invitations of all kinds, sold fine imported papers, journals, antique ink pens, and the like. Unfortunately, 18 people were also left homeless that lived upstairs above the store fronts. The roof ended up collapsing so assumed all was a total loss.

Spent the weekend doing parents and our taxes, preparing for dad's arrival back home following his successful hip replacement 3 weeks ago. He is anxious to get home! My brother and I are in the midst of planning a surprise 80th birthday party for my mom (May) and dad (Feb) which will be so much fun!

On the work scene, Tuesday is the final closing for the sale of our division. Very emotional few days ahead saying good bye to old friends and such. Fortunately, I am not losing my job and will be picked up by the parent company but I worry about my friends who are.

Ate dinner out last night, was really in need of "comfort food", had veal parm which I can not remember the last time I had that. Hubby had seafood platter and I sneaked a shrimp and a scallop from him...(yes I did journal it all). Probably was more food than I intended to eat yesterday, but I have been on track all week and again today. Made a huge beef stew in the crock pot for dinner tonight and the house smells wonderful. Didn't weight in at all this week and really have no idea what the scale might say tomorrow am. Time will tell. It is not my top priority today to think about nor can I change the results, whatever they will be.

I just reread my entry and it sounds like I am a little depressed, I guess maybe I am, my heart is heavy for my cousin and I am sad about their loss. I am going to pick up my spirit tonight, it is almost Oscar time, one of my favorite nights of the year. I will be surfing around some tonight and journaling menus for this week.

Very sorry to hear about the fire, that's awful. I hope no one was hurt? Thanks for your messages on my journal, they are very inspiring :)

Thanks Lee, two people were taken to the hospital but are OK. It happened at about 5pm when everyone was home having dinner. It spread so fast nobody was able to save anything and just managed to get out.

Oh, Babs, I will be praying for your cousin and those that lost their homes in the fire. It is such an overwhelming thing to deal with. Our house burned February 14, 1998. I am so sorry that they are going through this. And I am sorry that you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the sad things going on around you. You have a big heart Babs...take care of yourself and try to enjoy your Oscar Night celebrations. Your dinner out last night sounds delicious. I love Veal Piccata! BIG HUGS to you, sweet buddy!

Oh wow, so sorry about your cousin and those left homeless. Good of you to be planning those parties. That should be fun. And sometimes we just have to eat that comfort food. Doesn't sound like you really did that bad. And shrimp and scallops are good for you! So glad you are keeping your job, but still major changes for you which can be so difficult. Keeping you in my prayers.
