It's so difficult to stay focused when so much is happening. How do you do atkins on low budget? At this time though, it seems not to matter. i'm not really hungry. i'm stressed and anxious beyond belief. i tried to be on track the last two days but i'm still eating less than i should. the food literally gets stuck in my throat. i focus on eating the vegetables especially but have a hard time with the meat. My body is just too over stressed to understand it needs to eat.

I haven't lost weight.... I don't understand why. No theories at this point other than, stress.

I am sorry you are stressed. I hope things get better for you in the future. As for cost of atkins buy veggies in seson or buy frozen in bulk. I do love costco here in California it is easy to buy in bulk there. They also have 85%-15% ground beef which is still alot of fat but a good price. I also shop at the big box stores that have cement floors and lower prices. Also I just went yesterday to get most of the ingredients for recipes (splenda or syrups) I tried to get the protien powder but that will have to wait at $17. I do think that those additions will last me a long time so I will not have to purchase them again soon. Hope I helped. : )

Hi Slimvero-I read your bio and saw your husband is from Egypt and that his family is there so I feel safe in assuming that is part of your stress. I cannot even imagine. I do hope everything turns out well and peace is restored. It breaks my heart to see the unrest on television and I do not know a soul there. It's times like these I am so grateful to live in this country regardless of whether or not I agree with it's leaders. At least I get to play a part in choosing them. Please know, that even though I don't know you that you're family is in my thoughts. I hope you are able to stick to your plan for a healthier life during these trying times. Just listen to your body, it will tell you when it's hungry. You don't have to force it if you don't feel like it. One of the things I have discovered is that proteins are least expensive when they are least processed. For instance, a bag of skinless boneless chicken breasts are expensive, bone in a little less, cut up whole chicken a little less and a whole chicken you have to cut up yourself even less. So if you're willing to trade a little time you can save a lot of money. Eggs are also relatively inexpensive and easy and fast to prepare when your mind and body are not thinking of food. I do hope you're troubles are behind you quickly.

thanks for your input ladies. it is very helpful. yes, i do buy in bulk as well at sam's club, but even that has gotten expensive for me. so i do opt for chicken a lot more and for eggs, which i really don't like but i'm learning to. ground turkey at sam's is really cheap. i'm diligently looking at store ads to make sure i don't miss good deals on meat and especially fish. i'm getting so tired of chicken and even red meat. cbreeze, yes my husband and his family are in the middle of all the chaos, in Cairo. for the most part they stay indoors and then my brother in law stands guard with the rest of the neighborhood men, sticks and machetes in hand since my in laws live in a relatively well off area of Cairo. Yes, the majority of my stress is from that situation and the other is the fact that i've been home for almost 10 months on workers' comp and now that my dr. said i can go back to work with minor restrictions, my employer will not take me back. tomorrow is my last day with some salary so i'm running around trying to get another job and at the same time get a civil lawyer to sue my employer for failure to accommodate under ADA and other laws. in the meantime i have to apply for unemployment which i have never done, so it's very confusing. It is very sticky and complicated and above all, terribly frustrating. I'm also having troubles with my older sons and that has just made things so much more stressful. i gained three pounds.... i didn't do much different other than eat fries (10 of them) at in and out on thursday and then had a salad that was heavy on carbs... even the good ones. however, i'm eating less overall and keeping at or below the 20 net carbs. the only other reason for my gain has to be that i haven't had the time, energy or mind to go to the gym or go to the park and walk. this week i'll be better God willing and really get myself down on the scale. Thank you guys... for your support and concern.
