Wow. I discovered the wonderful world of hummus. I never knew it could be so yummy and easy to make. I also didn't know that there are limitless varities that can be made. Another wow, while eating it, I totally forgot I was eating a bean. Well, no Mr. C. (as it's known here to us FS Fans) today! HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!

Today in my meatless adventure I am having egg salad with celery and hummus dip. I'm addicted. My energy level is way better today than it has been in the past few days. Thanks everyone for your meatless protien ideas. They are helping. Going to try some meatless chili this week. Not telling the husband though. He thinks it's crazy not to have meat in chili. Well, we'll see. Hahaha.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Your Pal,
Julie ;-)

I, too, am a surprise hummus lover. The concept of eating mashed up chickpeas didn't sound very appealing and I was expecting to hate it the first time I tried it. Boy, was I wrong! Love, love, love it. I like it with garlic and some hot sauce. But roasted red peppers are a nice addition, too. And/or carmelized onions... the list goes on. Have fun with your meatless experiments.

I was prepared to hate hummus but I love it! I've got to remember to pick some up the next time I'm at the store.

Another hummus lover here, although I haven't made it myself yet. cindyshine, I spread mine on toasted corn tortillas - is taht close enough to a burrito for you? I also stuff hardboiled egg whites with it after I get rid of the yolk.

LOL this is sooo funny to me. Being Middle Eastern I grew up on hummus. It's VERY normal to me ;)

I love hummus - my favorite way to make it is with katamala olives and then I make rosemary chips from store bought tortillas - sooooo yummy!!

Can not contribute to the productive dialogue about hummus. Sorry. Just here to answer your question on my journal about the girlfriend. Yes. I like her a lot. We have only been together for a couple of hours. She lives on the East Coast. We live in the Midwest. She is smart - a Math major who will transfer to USC in Columbia, SC next year to major in engineering. Wow!

Back to hummus! I love the stuff and had forgotten about it. I will make it today. Thanks for reminding me! I have also heard about toasted chickpeas and plan to try that also. Rinse, drain and season and toast them in the oven for a long time until they are brown and crispy but not burnt.

Holy Cow!!! Hummus got our motors going. Yeah Hummus!! LOL. Thanks for all the great tips. I got my husband liking it too. Abby, not so much. I think it's a texture thing with her yet. In regards to Cindy's comment. Meat has been making me feel really yucky lately. To cook it, smell it, or even think about it. Now fish and seafood are alright to me. Don't know why???? Nope not prego. Wish I were, but "Aunt Flo" is visiting. :-( Today marks 1 full week without any meat (other than fish) protien.
