You stumped him, when you asked why the other people cc'd were not responsible as well. Maybe he'll reconsider.

Email etiquette is that “To” is for your action, and “cc” is for your information. I get so many cc email that it goes into an “unsorted” file, that I’ll read when I have time... 15K to 26K unread “cc” email per year. You are totally right being cc’d on an email is meaningless

I don't know about now but cc use to be carbon copied on. Meaning you received a copy of the e-mail as well. But times and things have changed so cc'd may mean something totally different.

The sender is responsible. But by his logic you should send an email of something the teacher would disagree with and Cc them on it. Than tell them they are responsible

that's ridiculous! I would report him. that is not ok. talk to HR. you have no control what others send via email and especially if you are cc'd on it. you didn't create it! and bc it's an email there is the proof! I hope you talk to someone. do not take yeah lying down. no way! been there done that!

If you trust your HR or your boss's boss, you should just tell one or both that little tidbit about his knowledge of how CC's work. Keep it calm and cool, just report the facts. It should at least get them to take a closer look at any other idiotic things he's doing.

Hold onto that e-mail and anything he writes about it, just in case. It's hard to believe that an adult wouldn't understand what a CC is, so you might need to show proof someday.
Or, if you're feeling petty and don't need the job, write something about how the Irish carry COVID and should all be purged, and CC him. :)

Agreed with some of comments. Document everything. Include witnesses names, date, time, circumstances and place. Even if nothing else happens it's always best to "cover your a$$".

Thank you for your support. I spoke with one of my coworkers as well as my union. Found out one of the emails I was getting blamed for, I was never cc'd nor had knowledge about. It was a private email between 2 coworkers. I saved everything.
