While I get what this is saying, I rarely find this to be true. I give myself a set time to complete something and I feel like I rarely do it on-time (thinking about cleaning up or whatever). I make tremendous progress, but something always blocks me from making that deadline. Now, I often find if doing something for someone else... I set a goal and can get it done (sometimes early). 🤷

The tyranny of the urgent makes me crazy. I just pray for consistency to lose and maintaine this time

Pondering this....If it's something like cleaning house, expecting company lights a fire under me. When it comes to losing weight, short term goals are good but it's the long term that makes a difference. Just like cleaning the house, if you achieve your goal then let things slack off your house needs a thorough cleaning again....or you have to lose that same 10 lbs. again. Long term changes work best for weight loss.

Cleaning a house is radically different yo losing fat and keeping it off. You set yourself up for derailment and/or a rebound. Make it a lifestyle you can stick to, not a quick fix that you can't maintain.

I'm just gonna disagree. No judgment.

Losing weight is something you do not want to do quickly slow is better for keeping it off and making long term changes to sustain.

Maybe there is a different way to view this. If the numbers are arbitrary and 30 days represent you investing more time into your goals then it should yield better and higher quality results. If 3 hours represents the minimum effort then you get what you put in. Urgency should really be substituted with priority and by that if you set your goals as a priority above all else then you will prevail. Then again if your goals always take a back seat and are not your top priority then you get what you put in. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

Mike you have hit the nail on the head! It is all about priorities and not the 'house on fire' results that result in temporary relief at best. The house work analogy is similar. I think it is also quality. In the 3 hour housework rush things are shoved into closets and behind closed doors. Not a quality clean that will hold over the weeks ahead. Go for quality changes and honour your priorities

It is a challenge. My housekeeper is “working from home”. She sends me a to-do list every week and I Do— then send her the check. Still not sure how this works out but I struggle through it. Then she Zooms me to check my work. Prison warden in another life I think. Hehehehheheheh.
