It's been a tough weekend.

I woke up on Saturday morning with lower back pain. I've had this problem before, but I didn't think it was going to be an issue. Usually it starts to hurt because I slept on it funny. I chocked it up that and went on with my day. By mid afternoon my back was spasming and I was down for the count. Yep. Pretty lame. This also meant that there was no way I was going to be able to exercise. I had planned Saturday as my day off anyways, but I was still unhappy about it. I took some left over muscle relaxers and pain killers on Saturday eveing and went to bed.

I woke up Sunday feeling marginally better. I immediately popped another round of medicine and went on with my day. I had a meeting at 1, which went fine, but I was a little sore afterwards. By the time I got home I could feel the start of more spasms. I relaxed for the rest of the day and felt somewhat better when I went to bed. Needless to say, no exercising again.

This morning I woke up in pain again. Not terrible, mind you, just a dull pain and stiffness in my lower back. I took some drugs with breakfast, which will hopefully mellow it out for the day. I have a long meeting tonight, though. Ugh. I also don't foresee any exercising today. I am going to attempt to walk down and get the mail though (a 10 minute walk from my office.)

If I'm not feeling better by tomorrow I might break down and go see a doctor. I absolutely abhor the medical field, so this should tell you something.

I would definitely go see the doctor if you aren't feeling better - you don't want to mess around with your back, trust me. I had emergency back surgery in Dec. 2008. Beginning in May 2008, I began to have pain/numbness shoot down my right leg if i'd stand too long - the only relief i'd get was if I sat down. I went to the chiropractor who sent me for an MRI that revealed 2 disc problems - one was herniated, the other bulging. I continued with chiropractic care, and things did improve -- but my chiropractor advised me to see a neurosurgeon, just so I was established in case something ever happened. Well, like you, I hate doctors -- and since I was feeling better, I didn't do as she said. One morning while I was getting ready for work, I leaned over to get something out of a drawer and was overwhelmed with pain in my lower back and leg. I went an entire weekend not being able to sleep or sit up straight - eventually my legs went completely numb, along with everything in between :P Once I got into a neurosurgeon, he rushed me for another MRI and immediate spinal surgery. He removed 80% of the herniated disc that was blocking my spinal canal. To this day, I still have some residual affects of the nerve being blocked -- most of my right foot has no feeling in it. Needless to say, I wish I had gotten over my fear of doctors and listened to my chiropractor -- I might not have the issues I have today if I had! :) I'm not saying that you're as bad off I was, but like I said, it's nothing to mess with. My neurosurgeon said if I had gone much longer and lost the ability to control my bladder/bowel - it would have been irreversible. Scary stuff! :) So, don't be afraid to have the doctor check it out -- maybe he/she can give you tips to help with your weight loss too!! I hope you feel better -- i'll be praying for you!
