Well this week has not really gone as planned. I wanted to start out the week well and I did my workout on Monday. Yesterday, about ~30 minutes before dinner, my allergies started up hardcore. And when my allergies start up, my asthma gets bad - so I've been advised not to do strenuous stuff when I'm all congested, because of the asthma. So, I took a generic claritin. Nothing. Then a benedryl. Nothing but kinda sleepy. Then I took an Alavert. I still went to bed (over 5 hours later) with the same allergies - nose itching, sneezy, eyes watering. I was dying.

Then, today, I had to wake up early to go to the doctor to get some rx's refilled, and FIRST the nurse dude weighed me (with shoes and jeans and everything, on one of those sliding scales, and I was clearly like 138 something, and he was like "Okay, 140". So, that kinda bummed me out. Again, I'm doing good on calories, bad on working out. SO, I was pumped to workout tonight. But, the doctor was like "Oh hey, did you get your flu shot yet? No? Well lets give you one". The same nurse guy comes back in, telling me how awesome he is at giving vaccinations, and how if you need a vacine, you want him to give it to you, etc etc etc... Stabs me in the left arm. NOT EVEN 20 minutes later, and I seriously cannot move my left arm up at the shoulder, or carry things without feeling that... "muscle-wounded" feeling all the way down to my fingers. I can't even do the arm pumping associated with my step aerobics (I tried to march in place like I would normally, and I can't lift my shoulder that high on my left side). That also means, no shoulder presses, no push ups, probably not even any Wii Tennis because of this. I was EXPECTING that my arm would hurt tomorrow from the flu shot, not today, because that's what usually happens when I get shots, I feel sore the next day, not the same day.

Anyway, I'm really hoping that since I got it early in the morning, that by the time I normally go to workout (like... 10pm-ish) that it'll feel better so that I can at least get SOME workout in today.

I feel bad that I'm losing motivation to work out, but things are getting crazy at school with my classes, homework, grades, helping teach a lab, taking care of my (continually failing) aquarium system, that when I come home, I just want to sit, and when it rolls around to after dinner, I just want to sit. So I'm going to try and combat that today, by making myself feel bad about laying on my fat ass and not working out since Monday... I hope it works. No, not even that, because I KNOW That'll work, I Just hope my ARM works later... because this is probably the WORST feeling shot I've had since I've had my tetanus shot...

Oh, also, everyone in my department is sick with the cold or a flu and I'm hoping like hell that I can avoid that... I definitely dont' need to get sick right now, though the flu might help me lose some of this weight, LOL how awful. But true.

Hey, SQ, my allergies have been giving me fits also. It tried all the things that you tried...nada. So I finally went back to my old standby...Advil Allergy Sinus and 2 Excedrin Original!! Works everytime for me. I clear up, the stuffiness inside my head goes awau, the headache leaves and I feel great! I am always trying something else, as my DiL is a pharmacist student and an intern and she is always telling me about these new medications...but I always come back to the old stand by. As for the working out..I hear ya, it must be in the wind, ro the moon, or something. I have been feeling rather blah also, but have been making myself do it. Then Redwinelover says that I need to move up to Ramp it Up on my Slim in 6 workout, and I listen...OMG, she is trying to kill me, I know she is! When you can't breathe, your arm hurts like heck, and you are overloaded by life, it is very hard to feel like exercising. If you don't feel like doing anything else, just go for a nice brisk walk! That will get you some exercise and help clear the head and make you feel better!

I totally know how you feel about getting the motivation to work out. Maybe try to switch it up and try something different? That, I know, is easier said than done! Also, that same thing happened to me last year when I got my flu shot. I chalked it up to them hitting a nerve or something. I couldn't lift my arm higher than shoulder level and it hurt/ached bad. Needless to say, I haven't gotten mine yet this year but I've had 2 opportunities. Maybe I'll try the nasal one.

Yeah I just wish I had gotten the shot on like, Friday or something, lol so I wouldn't feel so bad about slacking off. I think what I need to do is switch it up, like you guys said, but maybe what I'll do is go back to one that I used to be really bad at and hated when I wasn't as fit... I have a 45 minute Hip-Hop Dance workout. Sounds stupid, but I'm not the best dancer, so it's kinda fun, I might try that, but I'm not thinking tonight if I can't lift my arm. Just like you said love - my arm isn't hurting as bad, but I still can't lift it above shoulder level, which is really cramping my style. And Ctlss- you know RWL is just the most awesome motivational person on here, I really need to get back here more often cause that's probably what I need a dose of, haah! :D

Well, gosh...here I go, checking up on my friends and I see I'm BEING DISCUSSED! :D Ctlss...you KNOW you're happy you decided to go for it. And I hope you're just a LITTLE bit sore in the morning - just so you know you were working some muscles that had been overlooked :) I'm honored to be the task "master" LOL.... ========================================Anyway... I came here to see how you're doing SQ and see you're SUFFERING with the damn allergies again! And a mean nurse, too! Why didn't you say, AHEM... I DO believe that number was 138! If he only knew how each and every pound is such a struggle sometimes! And THEN he goes and stabs your arm....let me at him!! grrr.... I can take him... my husband was admiring my "guns" tonight :D....Oh, life...pretty interesting trip, huh? I think you should go for the Hip-Hop dance dvd... it might be a lot more fun being a lot more fit. But, that's assuming you can lift your arm! Take the Airborne or Emergent-C if you've got it...you certainly don't need to get sick on top of everything else. I'm trying to steer clear of my son...he thinks he's getting sick. The FIRST hint of illness and I'm shoveling Vit. C and those other products into my body. I do NOT want to get sick. I think I have 7 Insanity workouts left. Hmmm...what next? Don't think I'm up to trying P90X just yet, need a break from that kind of workout. Maybe Jillian's new one, the one you need kettlebells to do... that might be fun. Well, different, anyway. Get better, SQ! That was actually a plea, NOT an order from the task master ...lol...
