Good for you! Stay positive and realistic. Thousands of people have succeeded and you can too. Just remember that for most of us with weight issues, it will probably be a lifetime thing. But if you learn from every mistake, they won't be wasted. Don't worry about losing a battle here and there; just concentrate on winning the war.
I don't know what sort of eating plan you're on, but here are a couple of suggestions in case you need ideas or inspiration. The "No S Diet" is fantastic for habit change. (Google and you'll find the site.) Changing habits is the most important success strategy. And for the science of weight management, and understanding what's really going on in our bodies, I just read what might be the best book ever--and I've read dozens of diet books. It's "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes, and you can get a cheap used copy at Amazon.
