So, for the last few days, I've been painstakingly planning all my meals. Today I brought perfectly good, leftover El Pollo Loco grilled chicken and garden salad.
Boss' boss decided that he wanted to take the team out for lunch. I tried to get a bead on where we were going so I could Atkin-ize accordingly, but it took them two hours to decide where we would even go! First it was Chinese (I balked), then sushi (I winced), then Brazilian steakhouse (I brightened) and then... Persian and Greek.
I was thinking: Great, rice and pitas and starchy stews, oh my.
Turns out I was able to adjust... I had a steak kebab and subbed Greek salad for rice. I had a bite of someone else's shirazi (just a salad made of chopped cucumbers, onions, tomato, parsley and lime juice). Where I went wrong was trying a couple of bites of eggplant borani, stupidly thinking of eggplant like it's a squash, most squash being relatively low-carb... no, not so much, as it turns out. At least I only had a couple of bites! It might have only been the equivalent of 2 tablespoons, but I'm saying a quarter-cup just to err on the cautious side. Someone else was quite happy to get my lentil soup. And I had to keep blocking offerings of pita bread. On the whole, I think I did okay.
