I weighed again this morning, still maintaining the 1 lb loss this week. My plan calls for weighing in once a week, guess I need to make up my mind where that is Friday or Sunday....

That 1 lb loss is really a big successs beacuse I have had to increase couple of my meds this week (Lyrica & pain pills) for reoccurring neuropathy (I sure wish FS had spell check). The Lyrica causes me to retain lots of fluids. Even first thing in the morning my ankles look like they are wearing donuts! By the end of the day they are truely monstrous, huge and ugly! I DON'T need any more ugly problems! I am still trying to find a short, no daily maintenance required, haircut that works with my little round face!!!!

At least my nails are gorgeous: long, each the same length, a pretty spring pink, and a couple of pink and yellow flowers. Yes, my toe nails match! Its already sandels and flip flops time here---can't have ugly toes! Though this week no one noticed my toes, only how big and painful my ankles looked! Woe is me! But life is unbearable w/oo the meds. :(

Guess I better go back to worrying and fixing the haircut issue, At least I have chance at success there.:)

This week will be another challenge to my Atkins food plan (I hate the word diet). I have another out of town, overnight trip with people who, of course, need very little excuse for a party. If I can just stay away from the margaritas! I have to make myself remember while 1 might not hurt, the first one usually leads to more than 1. Its hard to resist those cool & delicous drinks at about 7pm, dinner on the patio, Texas weather at about 80 degrees, slight evening breeze.....just can't beat that combination!!!

Maybe someone could send me some ideas for a low carb adult drink choices. All my usual favorites are full of sugar: margaritas, amaretto sours, whiskey sours, tequila sunrises, mai tai....... Somehow my coffee is NOT keeping up with that list! LOL

Guess I need to sign off for now, and get my kitchen ready for the week!

I do-o-o understand!!! I call this "my journey". I also hate the word diet... why call this something that starts with the word "die"???? Not me! I think it was Ricard Simmons that calls it "live it"... whomever, it is a good idea! I sure like your thoughts about morning time on the veranda (I don't live in the south but it sounds good, KellyBo might like it!) For a beverage I like to drink Crystal Lite, I mix pink lemonade & strawberry, orange, banana. You could add vodka I think, it would be GOOD! No calories but it does use aspartame & of course some people don't want to use that but at this point I am NOT giving up everything!!!! I quit smoking alot of years ago, quit drinking a few years ago (again-12 yrs before), quit coffee a couple years ago & Jan. 10th this year I gave up pasta, rice, potato, sugar, etc. so for now I may indulge in aspartame. My husband asked if I was giving up sex next, LOL! He is a keeper (31 yrs so far) I love Texas weather (except June, July & August) of course torando season isn't so fun! Ya'all do rain real good too! My grandson lives in Austin,TX & 2 siblings & there kids live in OK. south of OKC. Haircut's well I have worn very short spikey types of cuts with flame red hair. With losing weight I decided to change to dark auburn & I am growing it out to a one length A-line bob cut. That can be pretty easy. Like Katie Holmes cut. Anyway, I have rambled enough. Hope you have a GREAT SUNDAY afternoon!

The key to Texas Summers is air conditioning and/or a large ice chest with lots of cold beverages! and, the ice chest must portable enough to go from the pickup's tail gate to the lake, to the patio, or to pool side. You have given up so many things already, I recommend aspartame as tolerated, the final verdict isn't in yet for it or Splenda, and whatever happens don't give up the sex or the hubby!!!!!!!!!!!!!if that should happen, the out come doesn't look good at all.

I order club soda with a lime squeeze. It LOOKS like a "real" drink but its zero calories and sugar. Then I can just have the glass in my hand to keep me busy, drinking and "in" with the others. I also like the crystal light drinks. You have lost 29 lbs!!! you are just so shy of the big 30!!! That is my goal right now, to reach the 30 lbs lost mark. You are doing awesome!!! what a great loss! you have got to feel better, even with the meds and the swollen ankles. as for hair, I just recently had a "color weave" and I love it. It lasts quite a while and it "soften's" the face and gives a younger apperance (at least thats what they said on the Today show makeovers) and I do like it. Getting a new haircut is a always so difficult. My theory is if you have a haircut you like and others are complimenting you on your haircut, keep it. Why change it if its working for you?

Wowzers... been there with the Lyrica! Not a fun drug... how long have you been on it? I was on it for about a year for neuropathy as well, but couldn't stand the side effects of the short term memory loss, not to mention the weight issues. I started taking a supplement, Alpha Lipoic Acid, 600mg, at first only 1 time per day, but then after about 5 months, I went back to my old nurse practitioner (ARNP), and she has me on it twice a day now, for 1200mg per day total. After only 3-4months, I found that my pain levels decreased, dramatically!! All the sudden one day, I realized that by the end of the day, I was still walking and able to do dishes after dinner without the level 8-9 pain, I'd grown accustomed to for years. It was a miracle. I didn't realize that it was the ALA, for a few days, as I'd also started taking other supplements in May of that year, and my feet quit hurting in early October, last year. I then started weaning off of the Lyrica and am happy to be off of it still. My podiatrist only recommend 1000mg, but my ARNP was fine with 600mg 2 x's a day. I order it off of vitacost.com, it's way cheaper there, and I can order as much as I want for only a $4.99 shipping fee. Let me know if you have other questions, but I swear by it. :) Hope that you aren't suffering the same side effects that I was, as I loved the pain relief, but the memory loss was nearly debilitating, in itself. Keep up the great work!! :)

ps. whoops and I have advanced neuropathy in both feet, too. :) I'm not diabetic, yet anyways, and I intend to do my best to keep it that way. So to have the neuropathy, I can pretty much blame it on a nervous system degenerative disease, called CMT. It's hereditary, I probably got it from my mom. So, wanted you to know that I am dealing with some serious pains too, and finding relief w/out the Lyrica! :)

Thanks, bully. I think I will give the ALA a try, guess I better read some more on it and if it has any side effects on the diabetes though. The side effects of Lyrica are tough, I didn't know about the short term memory loss, I have been worrying about senior moments and getting old lately---there's hope for me yet! Why the neuropathy started in my back, no one is sure, I know when the pain starts up I would do almost anything to make it stop. Glad yours is better, or least the pain and need for meds. Is there anyway to correct the CMT?

Unfortunately, no. There is nothing to help for CMT, it's a degenerative neurological disease that continues to get worse, but usually is a slow process. I am sure that the ALA is fine with diabetes, as I was/am insulin intolerant and my doc/arnp, was fully aware of my nearing diabetes and still recommended the ALA. Neuropathy is almost always found in ppl with diabetes and rarely found without it. Feel free to email me with more questions. I actually found out about the ALA while in super supplements looking for some supps that I needed and the clerk told me about a customer that comes in to take the ALA each month and swears by it. So I went for it on my own, only to find out later from the podiatrist that most ppl aren't patient enough to take it for a long period of time to see of it will help or not. I can't say enough about it and not having to take the lyrica, is a God send for me. Yes, it really helped in relieving the pain, and trust me, I could barely walk after waking, some days. I have acquired a high pain tolerance from dealing with the pain for so long. I have to use percocet to control pains and most of the time I need two to touch it. I understand willing to do just about anything to relieve the pain. I hope that you are able to find relief and maybe with the weight loss be able to control the diabetes more, too? After I lost the first 40lbs, I finally was able to get a fasting score of 75. I was testing 3 days a week. Keep up the good work, it'll pay off so nicely! :)
