Well, as you can see by my weight history, it's been a long time since I've even tried to lose any weight. I previously tried the Atkins diet and had some immediate success. But I found it too be much to restrictive and when I had a moment of weakness, the consequences on the body chemistry that's required to to the diet successfully was too great. I am now trying weight watchers with my wife and so far, I have been very pleased with the choices of food I have. I also enjoy calculating the points, and I have been eating a much healthier diet than I ever did on the Atkins. I may not lose as fast as I did on the Atkins diet, but since I'm in this for the long haul, I believe that this will allow me to stick with it.

Congratulations on getting your wife involved. My husband (Rhino on this site) joined WW with me in October 2007, and it made dieting and exercising more enjoyable. I hated doing it alone. And it showed. I cheated A LOT. Now we take our daughter in the jogging stroller and walk or jog whenever the weather is nice. We are also both involved in the food decisions of the house, which is nice for me. But the most important thing is that you are showing your children how to live a healthy lifestyle. Our daughter askes us everyday, "Mommy, Daddy, we x-cise today?" And if I didn't feel like it earlier, I do now. Good luck to you and your family. Stick together, and you will do GREAT. --Julie
