The day is late and I haven't exercised yet. Today was crazy again because we were short two and a half people (the half being someone leaving early) and so my food schedules were all messed up, it was 11:30 before I realized I only ate half my breakfast and had forgotten about the other half, and so I finished it and had my morning snack right after. So I decided to take my lunch later than usual about 1:30 and then never had time to eat my afternoon snack, by 6:30 I came home ready to eat my own arm and finally ate my afternoon snack. I was gonna work out after that, but I decided to watch the "10 Things You Need to Know" video instead, that everyone was raving about and I am glad I did. I updated my food diary at the same time. After it was over it was now 8:30 and I really thought it would be best not to eat dinner super late, so I just ate and am going to exercise in a few minutes. AT 9 O'CLOCK! Gah! I wonder what havoc this will play with my metabolism.

Anyhow, the video was good, but it got me thinking about my own diet history. As my profile I believe mentions, I have tried many diets. A ridiculous amount really. I've learned a lot over the years and I can pretty much maintain my weight ok, when I pay attention and care about it, but sometimes I can get a very bad attitude.

It's the "I don't give a crap right now" attitude. I am gonna do my best this time around to eliminate that attitude, however. It has been mostly counterproductive for me. It's the curse of the pisces. There is a reason the symbol for pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions. Our dual natures at one moment drive us to swim upstream against the current and achieve, and at the next moment just float out with the tide and get carried away downstream. Anyhow, when it comes to my health, I really don't want to be that person anymore. I just want to be diligent and stay healthy.

But I digress.

I was talking about my dieting history. Here it is in somewhat brief - Thin N Healthy, Weight Watchers, (for about two seconds, that one was a huge fail for me)Raw Foods, Atkins, South Beach, Vegetarian, Raw Foods (again), Master Cleanse (Not really for dieting so much, more for fasting) South Beach (again), The You On a Diet diet, (although less of the actual diet plan and more of just using the information in the book) and finally the Superfoods diet. Here's what I have discovered, the majority of these diets really work on one factor - burning more calories than you consume. (Perhaps with the exception of Atkins, which I happened to lose the most weight on, but which was hard on my body). In the beginning, I wanted to lose weight. Now, I just want to be healthy and not feel sick and tired and to keep my physique.

All of these diets have their flaws and benefits. Raw foods made my skin and hair and general physical appearance improve, and I lost weight, but I was hungry a lot on it, and it was very time consuming (at the time I had some raw foodists living with me for free who "cooked" for me every night though, so that was pretty awesome!) The easiest one to do was probably the South Beach diet because it was pretty straight forward and simple to me, especially after Atkins (eat these things, don't eat these other things - simple), but a friend of mine introduced me to YOU ON A DIET and though it is written in a way that is a little annoying (like for a child) it had a lot of really great stuff in it that I immediately started incorporating into my own eating habits and so my "diet" became my own, a combination of the things I learned put into practice in the foods I chose to eat and the meals I prepared. When I read the Superfoods Rx Diet, this also became helpful and all the body of knowledge built on itself, so that I started to develop a habit of eating what was natural and incorporating meals that I really enjoyed that were healthy. I didn't really lose much weight on that plan though, and it was fairly complicated, but I got some really great recipes and understanding about the Superfoods and how they affect weightloss.

SO, here I am, back to counting calories, but in a way that is better than ever before because I am armed with years of knowledge, a firm faith in my vows to God, and a cooking and eating history which allows me to make smart healthy choices that I also actually really enjoy.

There you have it. That is my best self-introduction.
