This is getting easier and easier. My niece had cotton candy tonight (I just love the stuff - kinda sick, I know) and I didn't even lick my fingers when I was helping her with it!!! Didn't want to waste those carbs when I was thinking about splurging on a creamy latte later. I know, it's probably too much dairy for induction, but I made sure it was a small one.. And it felt like such a treat. Laid off the cream in all my other drinks today to make up for it.
But wow - I feel my body changing - I don't know how to exactly explain it, but I feel FREE. Tonight I made terrific salads for everyone and, before I sat down I decided I wasn't hungry, so I just ate a little tuna salad and that was it. I really didn't want anymore. I finally feel in control of my own appetite. It's a feeling I need to get used to.
Was a crazy day - my sister had water in her basement and my parents and my sister are going to have to pull out their trailers on the river because of flooding. My parent's sump pump in their house is on the fritz, so we have to check it about once an hour. I'm on the 10pm-3am vigil. If the flooding continues, I may volunteer to do some sandbagging tomorrow. Pray for Iowa tonight and all the people that are being forced from their homes!!!
So here's what I ate:
BREAKFAST Hardees low-carb breakfast bowl (about 1/2) = 3C
LUNCH Pizza toppings (mostly veggies and cheese) = 3C
DINNER small scoop of tuna salad = 2C 1 egg with mayo = 0C
SNACKS Atkins peanut butter bar = 3C small latte made with half and half = 6C egg salad (2 eggs and mayo) = 0C coffee = 0C tea = 0C
TOTAL = 17C
Definitely needed more veggies, just didn't fit in today!

Paige, you sound like me! It's hard to eat all my meals because I'm full for hours! I love having control back too! You have inspired me today! many hugs, friend!

Wow, that sounds great Paige. We are surrounded by food that we can't have all the time but this time we have the control and knowledge to turn away from it. I know how it is with the flooding, you know living in the fish bowl that is New Orleans. They opened the locks that drain some of the river into the lake last week for the first time in 10 years. People are getting a little worried here too. I'll pray for ya'll and keep an eye on the news.

Iowa will be in my prayers!! On a lighter note... I LOVE cotton candy! YUM, my MOST fav since I was a kid!! OMG.. my fondest memory is my Dad taking me to one of those little cotton candy stands and watching them twist it around on the stick.. being a child, I thought it was the best, LOL. That time is over now, HA! My Dad still tries to put goodies in me but I'm a little stronger now. ;) You are doing awesome, keep it up!

I can pass on the cotton candy, BUT the creamy latte, now that is my idea of a treat! so rich, so creamy, so goood! and I am glad that on Atkins I have the opportunity to squeeze one in every once in awhile.
Hope everything gets better in Iowa!

Where are you in Iowa Paige? I'm SE of Ames or NE of Des Moines, depending on where you are! :)
I'm glad to read you're doing great! I know that reading these helps me put my own stuff into perspective and gives me great meal/snack ideas!!
Keep up the great work!

Reading this inspires me.. I am hoping that once I start it will become easy for me, and that I can gain back control. I just want to feel "normal" and stop letting food control me, and reading this makes me feel like I have hope!! Thanks!!
