Still think GMOs are bad for you? 🙅🏻‍♂️ - A meta-analysis by Pellegrino et al. (2018) looked at 6,006 studies and found that genetically modified (GM) foods contained fewer toxins such as mycotoxins, fumonisin and thricotecens… while having greater grain quality 👌 - A meta-analysis of 147 studies by Klumper et al. (2014) found that GM-foods contained 37% fewer pesticides while being able to increase yield and farmer profit. Win-win-win situation right there 😃 - A comprehensive review by Domingo (2016) found no evidence that GM-foods are harmful to human health 🍎 - A systematic review by Snell et al. (2014) looked at 24 long-term animal studies and found that GM-foods are equally as safe as their non-GM counterparts 🏥 - The evidence shows that GMO foods are not harmful to human health and may help us feed people more effectively 😊 - References: Domingo, J. Living in a pretty small environment, I'm against them because they don't produce their own seeds and could cause real damage to the island's ecosystem. I'm not 'for' pesticides, either, though, so prefer organic. I'm not sure how viable that is for large scale food production, though. Problem with GMO not producing seeds makes sure the food supply is in the hands of a few people. People, power - ultimate power ... yeah, makes me nervous.

GMO is such a weasel term. I don't have a problem with genetically modified plants. Farmers have been genetically modifying plants for a long long time. Picking out the plants that grow best... deciding what grows best beside each other and in which soil, picking out the plants that are resistant to pests.... Some of the best geneticists, as far as farming goes, in the are the Amish, Mennonites, Duggards, etc... Those guys have been splicing and dicing crops since they created their communities here. They grow some dandy crops out here in farm country. However, the problems is that the people selling the GMO seed to farmers are giant, overbearing Corps like DuPont, Dow, and Monsanto. They have genetically modified their seeds to not produce seed that can then be replanted for future harvests. They do this to make the farmers rely on their seeds only. Yes, they've done lots of other things that are incredibly helpful for food and grain production, but what they have done as far as seed goes... all in the name of more money and without thinking about a future where things might change (unintended consequences and all)... is unforgivable. It's a huge problem.

The purpose of GMOs is to create foods that are superfoods. Weeding out the bad to make room for the good.
