Diario de Herbie, 09 abr. 08

Staying steady, and doing generally well. Now that it's warmer here (at least for the last few days) I've been really enjoying being outside. I walk to and from work each day, which ends up being 40 mins total, and for the past two nights I've spent about 20 or 30 mins running up and down the block pulling a wagon full of kids. Not exactly a routinized exercise plan, but it is keeping me relatively active and having fun. Tomorrow morning I'm going to take my bicycle in for a tune up so I can enjoy going on rides.

After my hellacious winter quarter at work, I'm really enjoying a more flexible, and less stressful, schedule this spring. I have found myself unfortunately in the middle of some departmental politics, which (since I'm new here) everyone seems to have an opinion on how to stay out of. It's annoying to see/ be part of a well-intentioned and competent group of folks get stuck in these same patterns of struggling to make decisions, taking sides, whispering in the hall, and deciding that "stay out of it" is the best route. Doesn't seem all that productive to me.

But, in other news, the daffodils are blooming and my daughter is having her 6 year old birthday party this weekend. It's turning out to be quite a big group of kids coming over. Wish me luck!
