I’m here trying to shed some extra pounds. I’m looking for good, cheap protein ideas. I’m on a student’s time schedule and budget... but am looking at losing some jiggle before my graduation and next marathon. Help!! With a history of disordered eating, I feel like I can’t tell anyone around me that I want to lose weight. But hopefully this community can help with that support. Thanks guys!

canned tuna and wild salmon are good proteins at lower calories. chicken is always a winner or most fish.

Lean chicken tenders, chicken breast, lean ground beef, lean ground turkey, Lean ground bison, ribeye (shaved), ostrich jerky, ostrich meat, elk, eggs, Simple Truth brand Whey protein, peanut butter, egg whites, bacon lean, salmon, tilapia, cod, tuna in a pouch (albacore white tuna in water), good multivitamin, creatine, protein bars for snacks..... These are amongst the leanest cuts typically between 94 to 99% lean. Out of this list I provided the most expensive would be Bison (average cost), Salmon, ribeye, and ostrich....if you can find them and can afford them, they are worth the cost. Good luck .....keep us informed of your marathon prep----very cool.

In our lean, early married years, we ate lots of tuna! But it's not as cheap as it used to be. Still reasonable compared to many other excellent protein sources. And it's hard to beat eggs fixed in all their myriad ways. I just saw on the Internet someone promoting a week of hamburger recipes, each one made differently, with different spices and from many cultures.

Hummus made with tahini is a complete protein. Check Google for food combinations that together are inexpensive complete proteins equal to meat
